Berlin Apartment

GERMANY

White Arrow recently completed a gut renovation and interior design project in a landmarked building in Berlin, Germany. We created a serene environment that feels cohesive and luxurious; subtly curved corners, textural tile, deco detailing, and arches complement the high ceilings, original ornate doors, plaster crown moldings, and ceiling medallions.

Our goal was to hide asymmetry, create ample discreet storage, and rethink the apartment's entire layout. The home was an opportunity to experiment with new vendors and unusual fabrication techniques — we designed the custom bathroom and kitchen cabinetry and metalwork. We even had marble craned in through a window!

We took inspiration in the European location and spent time sourcing vintage Italian and French mid-century designs. We love the mix of eras and influences at play and added distinctive 1970s pieces by the likes of Carlo Nason, Ingo Mauer, Karl Springer, and Willy Rizzo.

Throughout the home, there is a sumptuous mix of autumnal colors and texture — travertine, mohair and leather upholstery, cane, and linen with living finishes like waxed cement tile, soaped Dinesen fir flooring, and unlacquered brass custom cabinetry and metalwork.

This project won the Driven X Design Award in Gold and was featured by Vogue Living, Domino, Dezeen, Architectural Digest Spain, Dwell and Living Etc.
